Financial Impact:
Appropriate funding is in the agency’s budget to cover this expenditure. The bi-weekly salary for the position Range 31 Step A is $2,088.80 ($26.11 hourly). The increased cost from A to E is approximately $11,710.40 in annual salary. The department has sufficient funds budgeted for this position. There is no impact to the General Fund.
Background Information:
Our candidate exceeds the minimum qualifications of this position with their relevant experience as an IT Manager, Tech Support Agent and Subject Matter Expert for Google Pixel. The candidate has many applicable skills including but not limited to: acting as a resource person for users, diagnosing IT issues and determining cause; setting up, installing and repairing computer hardware; installing software; training end users; meeting with staff regarding system usage, etc. She has over 5 years of comprehensive professional experience performing duties that are relevant to the position. In addition to these specific examples, this candidate has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Information Systems, which is applicable to this position.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with this position are difficult to find and retain in today’s job market. If this action is not approved, the Department will lose an opportunity to hire a highly qualified applicant.
The Personnel Office has reviewed the Other than A Step request and is in agreement with the Range 31, Step E appointment effective upon completion of all pre-employment requirements.
