Financial Impact:
No impact from formation of working group. Depending on the recommendations of the working group, the County may see potential sales tax revenue for Public Safety departments or other areas.
Background Information:
Following a discussion brought up by Sheriff Kain at the January 10, 2024 Board of Supervisor meeting, Supervisor Hansen suggested and received Board consensus for the concept of a working group be formed of Public Safety Department Heads to evaluate the possibility of a Public Safety-specific sales tax initiative to help address the County’s ongoing budget issues.
