Background Information:
The previous Assessor retired effective December 31, 2023. California statute states a vacancy in an elected County office, such as the Assessor, requires the Board of Supervisors to make an appointment to fill the office for the remainder of the unexpired term ending January 4, 2027. The appointed Assessor may run for an additional 4-year term at the June 6, 2026 primary election.
