a) RESOLUTION - Request adoption of a resolution to amend the FY 2023-24 Personnel Allocation List (PAL), (Reso #2023-88), by adding one (1.00 FTE) Dietary Cook (Limited Term) allocation with a sunset date of 6/30/2024, effective 2/6/2024
body

Financial Impact:
The total salary, benefits, and rollup costs for adding one (1.00 FTE) Dietary Cook (Limited Term) is approximately $22,966.80 to $26,071.73 for the remainder of FY 23/24.There will be no impact to the General Fund. This position will be funded 50% by Tehama County Community Action Agency (CAA) Senior Nutrition Program, and 50% Youth Offender Block Grant (YOBG).

Background Information:
The Probation Department is requesting to add one (1.00 FTE) Dietary Cook (Limited Term) allocation with a sunset date of 6/30/24, with the potential to extend the date if needed.

The reason for the requested Position Allocation List (PAL) addition is due to the Senior Nutrition program growing exponentially since its inception, currently averaging about 160 meals per day. The Juvenile Detention Facility also continues to increase its population, so the need for another Dietary Cook has become a necessity in order to keep up with the increasing meal demands. The Department currently has one Dietary Supervisor, one full-time Dietary Cook, who is currently out on an extended leave of absence, and one Extra-Help Dietary Cook. The current Extra-Help employee has been covering shifts for the full-time employee that is out, and has almost reached the 1000-hour limit for the year. By adding this position, it would alleviate the workload burden when oftentimes it is down to two staff due to scheduled days off, vacations, and injuries/illnesses.

If this position is approved, there would be no impact to the General Fund.

The Joint Council Bargaining Unit has been notified of the proposed request and is in agreement. ...
