a) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Social Services Director and County Counsel to sign the Interagency MOU with the Office of the County Counsel for the purpose of providing legal services involving Welfare and Institutions Code 300 cases at the rates as listed in Exhibit “C”, in an amount not to exceed $314,345, effective 7/1/23 and shall terminate 6/30/24

Financial Impact:
The cost of this contract has been anticipated in the FY 2023-24 budget and is budgeted as an expense in account 5013- 532300, Professional and Special Services. This contract is funded with federal and realignment revenues. This contract is late coming to Board for approval because Social Services and County Counsel reviewed the budget and actual services provided through December, in order to confirm terms were accurate and updated. County Counsel has been providing services since July, and Social Services anticipates paying those invoices.
Background Information:
County Counsel has the legal capabilities to properly represent the County in juvenile cases and issues. County Counsel is responsive to Child Welfare Services' positions and in working for the best interest of the children.
