Financial Impact:
This request would increase the Department’s Salary and Wages account (51010-51015) by approximately $69,625 annually. The Division is able to fund this request with a grant awarded by California for All Animals in the amount of $150,000. There would be no impact to the General Fund.
Background Information:
The Animal Services Division is requesting to add one (1.00 FTE) Animal Services Coordinator - Limited Term with a sunset date of 12/31/25 to their Position Allocation List (PAL).
The purpose of adding this additional Animal Services Coordinator - Limited Term is to oversee the new community outreach programs and establish public microchip scanning stations, as outlined in the Shelter Services Agreement between the County and UC Davis approved by Board on January 23, 2024. This additional allocation will also provide staff coverage during lunch hours and provide more flexibility for this position to work extra hours during staff shortages or leaves of absences.
This request, if granted would be funded through December 31, 2025 with a grant awarded by California for All Animals.
The Joint Council Bargaining Unit has been notified of the requested action and an agreement has been reached.
