Financial Impact:

The funds for the requested action are a result of the Animal Welfare Endowment Fund Grant.

Background Information:

The Community Foundation of the North State created the Animal Welfare Endowment Fund to support organizations who are providing for the welfare and care of animals in Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties.  Grants for general support are made to qualifying organizations whose primary work promotes the welfare of animals in the categories of:  supporting homeless and owned pets, supporting wildlife, and supporting working animals.  On November 9, 2023, Animal Services received notification of the grant award in the amount of $4,000.

The Tehama County Animal Care Center does not have the resources to purchase supplies and equipment above and beyond what is required by the County to provide.  The grant funds were used to purchase Motorola two-way radios w/headsets as a means of safe and reliable communication between employees and an industrial strength air filtration system to assist in the control of disease spread and to improve the overall health of the animals.
