Financial Impact:

This subcontract is budgeted in Department’s FY 23-24, and FY 24-25 budgets using WIC grant funds.

Background Information:

This agreement is a subcontract within the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) grant for Federal Fiscal Years 23-24 and 24-25. If approval is not granted, Public Health will be unable to fulfill grant responsibilities. The Health Services Agency has been without a Supervising Registered Dietitian and Registered Dietitian, who are needed to meet certain grant requirements, since September 2023. The Department has had eight (8) failed recruitments for Supervising Registered Dietitian since July 2023, and five (5) failed recruitments for Registered Dietitian since September 2023. This subcontract will allow Public Health to complete grant objectives to serve Tehama County families while continuing to recruit for these highly specialized and difficult to fill positions.
