recommendation

a)                     AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Chairman to sign the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service Special Use Permit for the continued operation and maintenance of an Organized Camp known as Camp Tehama, which shall expire at midnight on 12/31/24

body

Financial Impact:

The minimum annual fee is $300.  The annual fee is calculated using the land use fee formula plus other revenue and facility use fees.  There are calculated reductions for Priority 1 and Priority 2 use.  It is estimated that the annual fee will be between $2,000 and $3,000.

Background Information:

Camp Tehama is located approximately seven miles from the community of Mineral and Highway 36E on Highway 172 and approximately eight miles from the entrance to Lassen National Park.  The camp is within the U.S. Forest Service Almanor Ranger District and is operated under a special use permit by the County of Tehama.  The last permit was approved for a 20-year period in 2004.

This one-year temporary permit will expire on 12/31/24.  The Almanor Ranger District is currently working on a permanent 20-year permit which will be brought back to Board before the end of this calendar year.  Their goal is to get all camps within their district on the same schedule for permit renewals.
