Background Information:
The current Tehama County Clerk & Recorder has given notice of her pending retirement. California statute states a vacancy in an elected County office, such as the Clerk & Recorder, requires the Board of Supervisors to make an appointment to fill the office for the remainder of the unexpired term. The law establishes that the next election for the Clerk & Recorder will be in 2026 for a term beginning in January 2027.
A competitive recruitment was conducted for the position of Clerk & Recorder from May 31, 2024, through June 13, 2024. A total of eleven (11) applications were received. The applications were screened by the Personnel Office. Scores were assigned to the following five generic criteria in no particular order: 1) Demonstration of knowledge, skills, experience, and understanding of the essential functions of the job based on responses to supplemental questions; 2) Prior experience working in a Clerk & Recorder office; 3) Prior supervisor experience; 4) Education; and 5) Prior public sector experience. Among the applications, the top four (4) candidates with the highest scores have been advanced to the interview process.
Applications for the selected candidates are attached to the agenda, as well as a copy of the interview process guidelines.
