Requested Action(s)

recommendation

a)                      AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Director, or her Designee, to renew the Student Placement Agreement with California State University, Chico for the purpose of providing on-the-job experience and training to Social Work student interns, effective as of the date of signing for a period of 5 years

body

Financial Impact:

This is a renewal agreement. There is no financial cost for participation in this program. Supervision of the Interns is provided by current Social Worker Supervisors and the Program Manager. Of their cost, Social Services identifies eligible non-federal funding, which is reported to the University as an in-kind contribution.

Background Information:

This agreement is renewed to mutually benefit Tehama County and Chico State as our Child Welfare division provides an opportunity for Social Work students to get field experience, and our agency then has the opportunity to recruit these individuals once they graduate. This program is possible through the federal Title IV-E program. To qualify for the federally funded Title IV-E training program, students must major in social work. Upon completing the program, social workers must work for at least two years in a county child welfare services agency or California Department of Social Services child welfare division.
