a) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Director of Social Services or Designee to sign the Medi-Cal Privacy and Security Agreement No. 24-52 with the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to ensure the privacy and security of Medi-Cal Personally Identifiable Information (PII), effective 9/1/24 and shall terminate 9/1/28
body
Financial Impact:
The Tehama County Department of Social Services receives federal funding through DHCS to administer the Medi-Cal program. Failure to sign the agreement may jeopardize our Medi-Cal Administrative allocation. This allocation funds the salary, benefits, and operating costs for staff determining Medi-Cal eligibility and case management.
Background Information:
The purpose of this agreement is to ensure the privacy and security of Medi-Cal PII at the County level. Medi-Cal PII is information directly obtained in the course of performing administrative functions of Medi-Cal that can be used to identify an individual. The Federal Social Security Administration and US Department of Homeland Security require DHCS to contract with county welfare departments to comply with their respective privacy and security agreements.
