Background Information:

In compliance with SB 80 and AB 79, the Family Urgent Response System (FURS) is a coordinated statewide, regional, and county-level system designed to provide state-level phone-based and county-level in-person mobile response during situations of instability. Mobile response teams respond when the statewide hotline is contacted and trained hotline staff refer the case to the local mobile team. The purpose is to provide conflict management and resolution skills to stabilize the living situation, mitigate the distress of the caregiver or child or youth, and connect them to local services to promote a healthy environment for the families. The FURS prevents placement disruptions, prevents 911 or law enforcement involvement, prevents psychiatric hospitalization, and promotes healing as a family.
