Background Information:
The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office is respectfully requesting an exemption to the hiring freeze for one Public Safety Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic I position. With an aging fleet requiring frequent maintenance and the recent acquisition of several new vehicles which require upfitting, the AB-109 Auto-Shop has been struggling to keep up with the workload it’s been subjected to. The addition of this mechanic position will drastically improve efficiency and vehicle turnaround times to support our public safety personnel.
This position is completely funded by Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) funding and has a sunset clause of two years. Filling this position will not directly impact the general fund.
The Sheriff's Office currently has a viable candidate for this position in the background phase of the hiring process. The outcome of the background investigation looks promising. We are aware that applicants may become frustrated with extended hiring processes and may therefore withdraw their application to accept a more expedited offer from another agency.
