Financial Impact:
There is no direct financial cost for the Department to participate in this program.
Background Information:
The Department has had an ongoing relationship with California State University, Chico for student intern placements. The purpose of the agreement is for the placement of students in their Master’s level social work program with the Health Services Agency. The students are given the opportunity to participate in a service-learning environment with the staff. It is also an opportunity for the Department to participate in the education of those who plan a career in health services. These student placements are valuable to the Department as we have the ability to recruit these candidates after they graduate. This agreement will provide workforce development options for existing staff. If this agreement is not approved, these students would need to find other facilities to provide them with their training needs.
