Financial Impact:
The funds for this position are in the FY 2024-25 Budget Unit 40131, and the salary for the position at Range 64, Step B is $63.48/hour. There is no impact to the General Fund.
Background Information:
This position has been vacant since September of 2022, and numerous recruitments for a Mental Health Director have been unsuccessful. The Department engaged the services of a professional recruitment firm on September 1, 2023.
The candidate has a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 19 years of combined behavioral health and social services experience through various roles in the field. The candidate’s roles as Executive Director and Clinical Division Chief, as well as her background in clinical and administrative functions, have provided for invaluable experience in program development, team leadership, and strategic planning. Her previous supervisory and management positions in multiple counties have provided the candidate with appropriate knowledge and experience for this role within the Health Services Agency.
If the requested action is not approved, the County will lose the opportunity to hire a qualified applicant in this position. The Personnel Office has reviewed the Other than A Step request and is in agreement with the Range 64, Step B appointment effective upon completion of all pre-employment requirements.
