recommendation

Authorize Chairman to sign the Budget Appropriation Increase Request of $200,000.00 from Fund 50710 Revenue to Fund 117-3039-532360 (Prof./Spec. Contract Operations) to cover current, future, and any unanticipated ParaTRAX expenses.

body

Financial Impact:

This transfer will be funded by LTF

Background Information:

Request approval to transfer funds to cover current, future, and unanticipated expenses, into the ParaTRAX account. The ParaTRAX program is funded through multiple sources, requiring periodic transfers to ensure the program remains operational and financially stable.

This fund transfer is critical to cover ongoing expenses, ensure uninterrupted transit services, and address any unforeseen financial needs that may arise for the program. Approval of this request will allow ParaTRAX to continue operating efficiently without budgetary constraints.

These cost increases are driven primarily by a significant escalation in insurance premiums required to maintain comprehensive liability and operations coverage for the County’s fixed-route and demand-response transportation services. This adjustment ensures continued compliance with risk management standards and protects the County from potential financial liability arising from transit operations.

The additional funds are being requested under Account 532360 - Professional/Specialized Contracted Operations - to align with the updated compensation terms stipulated in the amendment. The increases are fully supported by new revenue and are essential to maintain contract compliance, ensure service continuity, and uphold public safety and insurance obligations.

Given the critical nature of these services to Tehama County residents-particularly those dependent on accessible transportation-we respectfully request approval of the proposed budget increases.
