Financial Impact:
The funds for this position are currently budgeted in the FY 2024-25, Budget Unit 2032.
Background Information:
The selected candidate for this position has previous work experience working with Caltrans supervising people who were on probation. The candidate maintained offender records and probationary progress. The candidate transported and monitored probationers on a daily basis. Candidate is trained in CPR & First Aid. Additionally, the candidate has approximately 3 years’ experience working for Garda World transporting and protecting large sums of US currency. While working for Garda the candidate maintained firearm proficiency and the use of safety / protective equipment. Candidate has radio / dispatch experience and has successfully de-escalated potentially dangerous situations using developed verbal communication skills. The candidate has related security experience working with video surveillance and security related equipment. The candidate wore a daily uniform and understands the process of chain of command and maintaining a professional appearance. The candidate’s training and experience exceeds the minimum qualifications of the classification and justifies placement at Range 28, step 2 within the Deputy Sheriff Association (DSA).
The Personnel Office has reviewed the candidate’s qualifications and is in agreement with placement at Salary Range 28, Step 2 upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements.
