Background Information:
The Planning Department is processing a number of use permits for communication facilities, primarily cell towers, which will be coming before the Planning Commission in the next few months. Because there are specific obligations and limitations placed on the County regarding the regulation of these facilities by the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the implementing regulations enforced by the Federal Communications Commission, staff determined that a brief study session would be appropriate before these use permits are brought forward to the Commission. No action is needed by the Commission at this time. Each of the use permits coming forward in the near future will have its own noticed public hearing.
