body

Financial Impact:

The total estimated project cost is $496,985.34. The project is proposed to be funded through an 85 percent federal and 15 percent local funding split, consisting of approximately $422,437.54 in FTA Section 5339(a) funds and $74,547.80 in Local Transportation Fund (LTF) revenues. The required local match will be incorporated into the applicable TCTAB budget before procurement. Authorization to submit the application does not obligate TCTAB to purchase the vehicles, and no purchase order may be issued until formal Caltrans procurement authorization is received.

Background Information:

The Tehama County Transit Agency is seeking FTA Section 5339(a) funding to replace three high-mileage TRAX Class C cutaway buses. The existing 20-foot, gasoline-powered buses are between seven and eight years old and have accumulated approximately 341,000 to 419,000 miles each. Continued operation of these vehicles increases maintenance demands and the risk of service disruptions.

The proposed project would purchase three new 20-foot, gasoline-powered Class C cutaway buses, each with an anticipated passenger capacity of approximately 17 passengers. The vehicles would be acquired through the CalACT/Basin Transit Joint Procurement, subject to Caltrans review and formal procurement authorization. Replacement of these vehicles will improve fleet reliability, reduce maintenance demands, and support the continued delivery of safe and dependable TRAX service.
