Financial Impact:

The services of this nature can vary from year to year. The Sheriff’s Office will allocate the funds requested for FY 2024-25 budget to pay for these services from budget unit 2027, account 53280.

Background Information:

This Agreement is for the purpose of performing forensic examination of victims of sexual assault, including but not limited to a medical evidentiary examination by a Sexual Assault Response Team ("SART").  Obtaining a prompt medical evidentiary examination is critical for successful prosecutions in cases of sexual assault.  The agreement will allow Tehama County to pay for medical evidentiary examinations within statutory restraints for all victims of sexual assault within the unincorporated area of Tehama County and the incorporated City of Tehama. It also provides Empower Tehama with a subsidy for those circumstances in which a victim is cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office.

Misc Agreement #2020-253 lapsed on 12/31/23, so the new agreement is backdated of 1/1/24, Empower Tehama was under the impression that the Misc Agreement (#2020-253) was indefinite until we dissolved it. We received an invoice in early August 2024, that we needed a new agreement for. The Sheriff’s Office and Empower Tehama have been working together to get this agreement renewed.
