Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact on Tehama County. The membership fee will be paid by Tehama County employees who elect to participate in the group plan.
Background Information:
The Tehama County Personnel Office is requesting approval for the Personnel Director to sign an agreement with AirMedCare Network (AMCN). AirMedCare Network is also known as Reach Air Medical. AirMedCare Network is offering County of Tehama employees an opportunity to enroll in a business partnership plan for air ambulance transportation at a discounted rate based on the group size. Under the agreement, the cost of one household membership for Emergent Air Ambulance transportation by AirMedCare Network for Tehama County employees will be $65 annually. A household is considered to include all family members who reside in the household. Employees who enroll will have the $65 annual membership payment withdrawn via payroll deduction. The pay period date for the withdrawal will be determined once the agreement has been signed and the enrollment period has been determined. Newly appointed employees will be given an opportunity to enroll at a pro-rated rate.
Employees who enroll will receive a membership identification card issued by AirMedCare Network, as well as membership stickers for the household. It is the responsibility of the transported member to notify emergency personnel and healthcare providers of their AirMedCare Network membership at the time of transport, if possible, to avoid receiving a bill for air ambulance transportation.
AirMedCare Network offers three different membership options for Tehama County employees. In addition to Emergent Air Ambulance transport, AirMedCare Network offers non-emergent air ambulance transport. Fly-U-Home transport ($140 annually) and AirMed International transport ($295 annually) provide access to medically equipped, private aircraft for transportation to a hospital of the members choice should the member become hospitalized more than 150 nautical miles from their home residence within the contiguous 48 states (Fly-U-Home) or internationally (AirMed International). All AirMedCare Network membership have no out-of-pocket expenses when flown by an AirMedCare Network provider.
AirMedCare Network is not an insurance program. AirMedCare Network will not compensate or reimburse another ambulance company which provides emergency transportation to you or your family. This may occur when the 911 Emergency System has independently determined another air ambulance company could provide more expeditious service or is next in the rotation to receive a call. This might also occur when AirMedCare Network air ambulance is unable to perform within a medically appropriate timeframe due to mechanical or maintenance problems or being on another call for service.
Costs associated with emergency air ambulance transport can create considerable financial strain. By joining the AirMedCare Network membership program, employees will be given the opportunity to significantly reduce out-of-pocket expenses related to air ambulance transportation when AirMedCare Network is the service provider.
