a) RESOLUTION - Request adoption of a Resolution authorizing the Sheriff’s Office to accept grant funding from the Law Enforcement: Small and Mid-Size Organizations/Agencies FY2026/2027 Grant, Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program (CTFGP), Department of California Highway Patrol for Fiscal Year 2026-27, and authorize the Sheriff or his designee to have signature authority on all program-related documents to carry out the purpose of this Resolution
b) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Sheriff to electronically sign the FY26/27 CTFGP Law Enforcement Grant Agreement through the Department of California Highway Patrol, to accept reimbursement for the amount not to exceed $104,100 effective 7/1/26 and shall terminate 6/30/27

Financial Impact:
This anticipated revenue of $104,100.00 will be utilized towards Deputy DUI enforcement trainings, DUI saturation patrol/check point overtime, DUI checkpoints equipment, education seminars/community events overtime and supplies for FY26-27. There are no matching funds.
Background Information:
With the passage of Proposition 64 in 2016, The Control, Regulate, and Tax Adult Use Marijuana Act (AUMA),California voters mandated the state to set aside funding for the CHP to provide grants to local governments and Qualified Nonprofit Organizations for the education, prevention, and enforcement of impaired driving laws pursuant to Section 34019 (f)(3)(B) Revenue and Taxation Code (RTC).
In February, the Sheriff's Office applied for funding through the Department of California Highway Patrol's Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program (CTFGP) under the Law Enforcement: Small and Mid-Size Organizations/Agencies FY 2026/2027 Grant and subsequently received conditional approval for the award.
The grant will provide the Sheriff's Office with funding to purchase equipment necessary to conduct DUI checkpoints and acquire educational outreach materials to increase public awareness of the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence.
The grant will also support specialized training for deputies by funding attendance at Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) courses, enhancing their ability to identify and investigate impaired drivers.
Additionally, the grant will fund deputy overtime for DUI saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints, as well as community outreach events and educational seminars that educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving and promote safer roadways throughout Tehama County.
An approved Resolution must be received prior to the grant agreement being approved and funding being released.
