Background Information:

Tehama County has been utilizing the services of Day Wireless Systems since the closure of Valley Industrial five years ago. Day Wireless Systems currently provides critical maintenance and support for the Sheriff's Office radio communications system, including mobile and vehicle radios, the 9-1-1 system, dispatch operations, and radio repeaters. Their services also include periodic evaluations of the radio system to ensure ongoing efficiency and operational safety.

The County’s primary communications tower, located at the County Jail, sustained significant structural damage during a major storm event in 2022. Emergency temporary repairs were completed to maintain operational functionality until a permanent replacement could be implemented. Subsequent evaluations conducted by PACE Engineering and Northwest Tower Engineering determined that full replacement of the tower is necessary. The proposed replacement of the Jail communications tower represents the third component of Phase One of the County’s Emergency Radio Communications Infrastructure Improvements Project and is intended to ensure the continued reliability and resilience of the County’s critical public safety communications system.
