a) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Chair to sign the Reinstatement and Re-Activation Agreement with Wiegand’s Water Well Drilling (Misc AG#2025-290) for the drilling and installation of the potable well for the Paynes Creek Fire Station, thereby increasing the maximum compensation not to exceed to $77,000 and extending term of agreement to be effective 9/9/25 and shall terminate 5/31/26

Financial Impact:

The cost of this well replacement will be covered by insurance after a deductible, as well as the County share being submittable under the California Disaster Assistance Act for Park Fire damages. The deductible cost will be paid by the department from Budget Unit 2042 account 53180, and other costs will be covered by Risk Funds while awaiting insurance reimbursement.

 

Background Information:

The Tehama County Fire Department Paynes Creek Fire Station pump house was destroyed and the well was damaged beyond repair during the Park Fire in July and August of 2024.  Well replacement is required to ensure continuity of fire department operations.

 

The well drilling began in November 2025. As work progressed, unstable formations were encountered requiring changes to the well casing size and amount of materials required, increasing the do not exceed from $70,000 to $77,000.
