Financial Impact:
There is no financial impact for participation. Participants are paid entirely by the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC).
Background Information:
The Tehama County Library requests to participate in the Student Work Experience Program (SWEX) offered through the Department of Rehabilitation (DoR). This program, administered by the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC), is designed to provide participants with paid, supervised work-based learning and on-the-job training opportunities with public agencies and community-serving organizations.
The Library intends to utilize program participants in a Library Clerk I capacity. These individuals would be considered part-time, temporary employees of the Foundation, working fewer than 1,000 hours per fiscal year and not eligible for County benefits. The Foundation would serve as the employer of record and would pay participants minimum wage for all reported hours. For practical purposes, they would function similarly to volunteers.
Providing a training environment will directly contribute to the social, cultural, intellectual and economic development of our community.
