a) RESOLUTION - Request adoption of the resolution authorizing the Sheriff's Office to accept grant funding from the Toxicology: Medical Examiners/Coroners Offices, and Law Enforcement Coroner Divisions FY 25/27 grant, Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program (CTFGP), State of California Department of California Highway Patrol for Fiscal Years 25/26 and 26/27, if awarded, the anticipated amount of funding is $100,00, and to have signature authority on all program-related documents to carry out the purpose of this resolution

b) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Sheriff to electronically sign the FYs 25 - 27 CTFGP Toxicology Coroners - Grant Agreement through the State of California Department of California Highway Patrol, to accept reimbursement for the amount not to exceed $100,00 effective 7/1/25 and shall terminate 6/30/27

Financial Impact:
This anticipated revenue of $100,000 will be utilized towards the DUI accident toxicology testing and personnel overtime from DUI accidents occurring in FY 25/26 and FY 26/27. There is no requirement for matching funds.

Background Information:
With the passage of Proposition 64 in 2016, The Control, Regulate, and Tax Adult Use Marijuana Act (AUMA),California voters mandated the state to set aside funding for the CHP to provide grants to local governments and Qualified Nonprofit Organizations for the education, prevention, and enforcement of impaired driving laws pursuant to Section 34019 (f)(3)(B) Revenue and Taxation Code (RTC).

In February the Sheriff's Office applied for a grant through the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program (CTFGP), Department of California Highway Patrol and received conditional approval for the grant. The grant that was applied for was the Toxicology: Medical Examiners/Coroners Offices, and Law Enforcement Coroner Divisions FYs 25/27 Grant.
