Prior year fund balance and interest brought forward are not included in the foregoing sum.
Background Information:
The Department of Finance for FY 2024-25 allocated $214,200,000 in Citizens Option for Public Safety (COPS) and Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA) funds. This allocation is based on a percentage outlined in Government Code section 30029.05 and 30061.
After an initial allocation, the remaining funds are distributed according to the relative population of each county and city. The breakdown includes 5.15% for county jail construction and operations, 5.15% for criminal prosecution, 50% for Juvenile Justice Plans, and 39.7% for front line enforcement.
The Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight Committee, having convened on October 3, 2024, formally recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the Committee's submitted expenditure plan, in compliance with legislative mandates.
