Background Information:
As the Board is aware, the Office of Administrative Law approved the SB 1383 final regulations on November 3, 2020. AB 2902 extended the deadline for when jurisdictions with a Rural Exemption must comply with SB 1383 regulations to January 1, 2037. Below is a summary of work completed since the April 6 Full Board meeting.
The Agency met with PATH to discuss the Community Composting Program at the Navigation Center on July 13, July 23, and August 10. Assembly of storage shed was completed on August 19. Additional composting tools were purchased for staff to turn compost material. Project details and implementation are ongoing,
The Agency attended the Tehama Together Food Share meeting on July 13 and August 10. The Agency shared information with the partnering organization about additional resources and services available through current grant. It was emphasized that the grant funding will be ending soon.
The Agency continues to utilize SB 1383 grant funding for outreach and education through local magazine media platforms. An article was developed for the Fall print issue of North State Parent Magazine focusing on backyard composting. The Agency is using the article to promote backyard composting and begin promoting the community compost project at PATH’s Navigation Center.
