Financial Impact:

Prorated election costs will be reimbursed by the various Districts after the conduct of the election pursuant to Elections Code § 10002.

 

Background Information:

The Tehama County Elections Department may receive Resolutions from the following Districts requesting the County conduct their election and that it be consolidated:

 

Corning Water District

Deer Creek Irrigation District

Mineral County Water District

Paskenta Community Services District

Proberta Water District

Thomes Creek Water District

 

Pursuant to Elections Code section 10002, the governing body of any district may by resolution request the Board of Supervisors of the county to permit the county elections official to render specified services to the district relating to the conduct of an election. Additionally, pursuant to Elections Code Section 10400, whenever two or more elections, including bond elections, of any legislative or congressional district, public district, city, county, or other political subdivision are called to be held on the same day, in the same territory, or in territory that is in part the same, they may be consolidated upon the order of the governing body or bodies or officer or officers calling the elections; and such election for special districts may be either completely or partially consolidated.  The Elections Department follows Uniform District Election Law, Election Code sections 10500-10556, and the date for the election is set out in Election Code Sections 1303 and 1304.If the Board of Supervisors does not approve the consolidation, the elections could not be consolidated and conducted by the Elections Department and would cause an undue burden on the Districts
