Financial Impact:

There is no general fund impact. The treasury department is self-funded through the treasury pool.

Background Information:

This is a request to increase travel expenses by $2,000. Travel costs have increased significantly over the last several years, but we’ve kept the travel budget at the same level as the 21/22 FY budget.

We’ve been able to stay at the same budget levels by sending fewer people to educational conferences/trainings as well as cutting down on the number of education/trainings we attend annually.

Currently, I’m on the California Association of County Treasurer/Tax Collector’s (CACTTC) executive committee. As an executive of CACTTC I help plan, coordinate, and run the conferences. This budget increase will allow me to participate in our annual June conference, which is the most important conference for our State Association. Not participating would not only be a detriment to Tehama County, but to all the elected Treasurer/Tax Collectors that rely on CACTTC for continuing education on the economy, municipal investing, treasury management, tax sales, unsecured collections among other important topics.
