Background Information:
Public Works is requesting this transfer due to unexpected expenditures unforeseen in the budget processes. The Public Works department received notification that the current alarm system communication provider (Bay Alarm) is moving from landline monitoring services to cellular applications causing the unanticipated expense to upgrade the Bay Alarm infrastructure. The enhancement to the Bay Alarm system will include hardware upgrades, installation, and monthly monitoring fees. Public Works is also requesting this budget transfer for the purchase of a miter saw for the purpose of bridge repairs that require structural restoration. The miter saw was initially proposed to be budgeted in the small tool line item, but the purchase price necessitates the expenditure be paid from the internal asset line item, per County policy.
