a) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Sheriff and Chairman to sign the agreement with Enloe Medical Center, a California non-profit corporation (Hospital), for the purpose of performing forensic examinations of victims of sexual assault, including but not limited to a medical evidentiary examination by a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) in the amount of $2,500 for each medical evidentiary examination performed, effective 7/1/24 and shall terminate 6/30/25 (Subject to receipt of required insurance documentation)

Financial Impact:
This expense has been budgeted for in FY 2024-25 in Advertising and Community Services Enloe Hospital Account 101-1091-55545. Expenses have varied from year to year depending on the number of cases. The Sheriff’s Office will seek reimbursement from the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for each qualifying event. Cal OES currently reimburses up to $1,127 for each exam.
Background Information:
This Agreement is for the purpose of performing forensic examinations of victims of sexual assault, including but not limited to a medical evidentiary examination by a Sexual Response Team (“SART”). Obtaining a prompt medical evidentiary is critical for successful prosecutions in cases of sexual assault. This Agreement will allow Tehama County to pay for medical evidentiary examinations within statutory restraints for all victims of sexual assault within the unincorporated area of Tehama County and the incorporated City of Tehama. It also provides Enloe with a subsidy for those circumstances in which a victim is cooperating with the Sheriff’s Office.
