a) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Director of Social Services or Designee to sign the 2024 Privacy and Security Agreement (PSA) with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) for the purpose of ensuring the privacy and security of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), effective upon date of signature and shall terminate 9/1/28
body
Financial Impact:
The Tehama County Department of Social Services receives federal and state funding through CDSS to administer CalFresh, CalWORKs, and multiple other eligibility and assistance programs that require the transmission of PII. Failure to sign the agreement may jeopardize that funding.
Background Information:
The purpose of this agreement is to ensure the privacy and security of Social Security Administration (SSA), Medi-Cal Eligibility Data System (MEDS), and Applicant Income and Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) PII at the County level. The SSA requires CDSS to contract with county welfare departments with access to SSA-provided information to comply with their respective privacy and security agreements. All counties must return signed PSA's to ensure continued transmission of SSA, MEDS, and IEVS PII as part of administration of public social services programs.
