Background Information:

The Social Services Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC) was established pursuant to the Transportation Development Act (TDA) and serves as an advisory body to the Tehama County Transit Agency Board (TCTAB). The SSTAC advises the Board on the transportation needs of transit-dependent and transit-disadvantaged populations, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and persons of limited means.

The SSTAC is responsible for annually participating in the identification of unmet transit needs, reviewing transit service needs throughout Tehama County, and providing recommendations to the TCTAB regarding transit planning, service coordination, and specialized transportation services.

The Council consists of representatives from transit user groups, social service providers, transportation providers, and community organizations. TCTAB appoints members in accordance with Public Utilities Code Section 99238 to ensure broad representation of the populations served.

Several vacancies currently exist in the SSTAC. Staff is seeking direction to refer a qualified representative to fill the vacant seat and maintain the Council's ability to effectively represent the transportation needs of the community.

Pursuant to Public Utilities Code Section 99238, TCTAB shall appoint nine (9) SSTAC members in the following categories:

(a) One (1) representative of potential transit users who is 60 years of age or older.

(b) One (1) representative of potential transit users who is handicapped.
