Financial Impact:
While the request does not increase the department's total appropriation, it utilizes General Fund salary savings that would otherwise revert to the fund balance to offset General Fund costs or support the requested staffing expansion for new re-entry jail. Redirecting these Salary savings to equipment represents a direct opportunity cost to the General Fund.

Background Information:
With continued success in hiring new deputies, the jail requires additional Conducted Energy Devices (CED), commonly referred to as Tasers to ensure staff are properly equipped to safely perform their duties.
