Financial Impact:

There is no financial impact to the General Fund.

Background Information:

Dr. Clark has been providing dental/medical care to inmates of the Tehama County Jail for more than 20 years. The Sheriff’s Office has been working with Dr. Clark and his insurance providers since January trying to bring their insurance up to compliance with the insurance requirements in the Counties’ standard agreement. Due to the insurance being noncompliant, payment for services rendered has not been issued since December. Dr. Clark has been very patient and continued to provide dental/medical care to the inmates as we have worked towards insurance compliance.

Dr. Clark provides a valuable service to the inmates of Tehama County Jail and has done his due diligence with his insurance company to reach compliance, however the insurance company will not agree to the terms listed in the addendum. If the addendum is not approved, the Sheriff’s Office is unable to issue payment for services rendered and could lead to Dr. Clark potentially ended his contract with Tehama County.
