Financial Impact:
The funds for this position are currently budgeted in the FY 26/27, Budget Unit 2032.

Background Information:
The selected applicant brings five years of progressively responsible experience as a service and repair technician, with a strong background in commercial and facility maintenance. The candidate has extensive hands-on experience performing drain line repairs in attic spaces, servicing and replacing water heaters, toilets, faucets, split-system HVAC units, and a variety of plumbing and piping systems.

In addition to plumbing and mechanical expertise, the candidate has experience working with electrical components, including 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch electrical whips, 30-amp and 60-amp disconnects, electrical water heaters, and HVAC equipment. The applicant is proficient in soldering, ProPress systems, and the use of a wide range of construction and maintenance equipment, including excavation and patching equipment, jackhammers, and vibration plates.

A significant benefit to the Sheriff's Office is the applicant's familiarity with County facilities, as the candidate has previously performed maintenance and repair work at the jail through a contracted service vendor. This experience provides valuable knowledge of the facility's infrastructure and operational requirements, allowing for a reduced onboarding period and the ability to contribute immediately. The candidate has also successfully completed specialized training in plumbing, electrical systems, gas applications, and ventilation, further demonstrating the technical knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of a Facilities Maintenance Technician II at a high level.
