Financial Impact:
No General Funds are involved. This action provides revenue to the Tehama County Health Services Agency - Public Health Division in the amount of $300,000.00 to support tobacco control activities for Fiscal Year 2026-27.
Background Information:
This is year five of the five year (2022-2027) Comprehensive Tobacco Control Plan allocation from the State of California. This program provides local assistance to fund the Tehama County Health Services Agency's (TCHSA) efforts to carry out the objectives countywide. This is an ongoing allocation which in the past, the State required the local health jurisdiction to sign an Acceptance of Allocation Agreement each fiscal year but is now requiring each fiscal quarter.
If these Agreements are not signed, TCHSA will lose the ability to provide various activities including but not limited to, tobacco education, community prevention activities, outreach to create smoke-free zones and reduce advertising of tobacco products.
