The Department will utilize AB443 funds for this purchase, and as such, there will be no financial impact on the General Fund.
Background Information:
The AB443 funds will be used to purchase a scissor lift, racks, and trays for the walk-in cooler in the morgue. These items are necessary to maximize the functionality, organization, and safe operation of the walk-in cooler and to ensure the appropriate storage, preservation, and management of decedents.
The scissor lift will assist staff with the safe and efficient movement and placement of decedents and materials within the cooler, while the racks and trays will provide organized and secure storage capacity. These improvements will support proper handling procedures, facilitate forensic examinations and investigations, and help maintain the integrity of evidence when applicable.
The purchase of this equipment will enhance the morgue's operational capacity, improve workplace safety, and support the Sheriff's Office in maintaining appropriate standards for the dignified and professional handling of decedents.
