Financial Impact:
The funding source for this program is the United States Federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The grant funds are used to strength the communities preparedness for terrorism related threats.
Background Information:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), administers the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) to assist state and local governments in building, sustaining, and enhancing critical homeland security capabilities aligned with the National Preparedness Goal. The program provides funding to strengthen preparedness for terrorism-related threats as well as other major hazards, including natural disasters.
HSGP is a multi-agency grant coordinated and managed by the Sheriff’s Office on behalf of participating County departments and partner agencies. Grant funding supports the purchase of essential preparedness and response equipment, including active shooter response kits, emergency communications equipment such as radios, and community emergency alert and notification systems. These resources enhance interagency coordination, emergency communications, and operational readiness, helping Tehama County strengthen its ability to respond to terrorism-related threats and large-scale emergency incidents.
There are no local matching fund requirements associated with this grant program.
