Background Information:

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office has maintained a long-standing lease with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection for radio vault and antenna space at Inskip Mountain. In 1998, Shasta County Public Works entered into a lease agreement with Tehama County to utilize space and access electrical power within the radio vault. The rent was set at $80 per month, with provisions allowing for annual increases based on changes to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Urban Wage Earners. However, the rent remained unchanged since the agreement’s inception, despite a 106% increase in the CPI to date.

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office recently contacted Shasta County and successfully renegotiated the lease terms. The updated agreement reflects the current CPI, raising the monthly rent to $165. This adjustment effectively doubles the revenue previously generated from the lease.
