Requested Action(s)

recommendation

a) Request approval of revisions to the classification specification of Code Compliance Coordinator, effective 10/7/25

body

Financial Impact:

There is no financial impact associated with this request.

Background Information:

The Environmental Health Department is requesting to revise the classification specification for the Code Compliance Coordinator.

The Department requests to revise the Education & Experience section by removing the requirement for an associate’s degree and reducing the required years of experience from five (5) years to three (3) years. In addition, the Department requests to remove language in the License & Special Requirements section that states it is desired candidates have a Penal Code 832, Arrest, Search & Seizure Certification. Revisions were also made to the Supervision Received and Exercised section to clarify that this position does not supervise clerical staff but may provide direction and guidance.

The Department has had difficulty recruiting for this position due to the current minimum qualifications. This classification is an administrative support position for the Code Enforcement Division. Therefore, the Department believes the desired minimum qualifications are better aligned with the duties and responsibilities of the position. Other minor revisions include language clean up and updating language for consistency.

There is no requested change to the current salary placement.

The Joint Council Bargaining Unit has been notified of the proposed revisions and an agreement has been reached.
