Financial Impact:

The funds for the requested action are a result of the 2023 California Animal Welfare Funders Collaborative (CAWFC) Clinic Grant.

Background Information:

On May 10, 2023, the Division of Animal Services was selected to receive a CAWFC grant in the amount of $18,500 to be used to establish monthly no-cost vaccine and microchipping clinics starting in July 2023.  Grant funds paid for veterinary services, vaccines, microchips and medical supplies.

During the months of July through December, 2023, the Animal Care Center held seven (7) no-cost vaccine and microchipping clinics in Tehama County.

During the months of January through June, 2024, the Animal Care Center held six (6) additional no-cost vaccine and microchipping clinics.

The thirteen (13) clinics held were a huge success and as a result, 441+ cats and 598+ dogs were seen for clinic services, 897+ of which were microchipped.  All grant funds have been expended.
