Financial Impact:
The requested action will not impact the Division of Animal Services’ budget.
Background Information:
The Division of Animal Services’ normal operating days for public service include Saturdays. This year, July 4, 2026, falls on a Saturday, and the County’s observed holiday is Friday, July 3, 2026. The Division is requesting to remain open on July 3, 2026, and to be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in lieu of the County’s observed holiday.
This will allow most of the Animal Services staff the ability to enjoy the holiday weekend. It is anticipated that there will be minimal public traffic on the requested day. Two staff members will need to be present to clean and feed the animals on that day.
