Background Information:

An official declaration of local emergency was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on September 29, 2026, which gave authority to the Director of Public Works to move forward with emergency measures to protect the north abutment and creek channel at Simpson Road by procuring labor, materials, equipment, professional services, permits and related support. In addition, the Director was given authority to enter into short-term emergency agreements needed to perform the work, not to exceed $250,000.

In anticipation of the predicted heavy storms this winter, it is essential that Public Works begin mitigating the chance for more undermining of the structure.  These temporary services, materials and equipment will allow for an expeditious effort to protect the bridge and embankment.
