Requested Action(s)

recommendation

a) RESOLUTION - Request adoption of a resolution amending the FY 25/26 Position Allocation List (PAL), (Reso #2025-074) by deleting one (1.00 FTE) Animal Services Office Assistant allocation and adding one (1.00 FTE) Administrative Assistant allocation, effective 12/9/25

body

Financial Impact:

The requested action results in a financial impact of approximately $8,275 annually. The Division is able to fund this request from anticipated surplus revenue in the Division’s Other Government Agencies Account (450740). As such, the request would not impact the General Fund.

Background Information:

Animal Services requests to amend the Position Allocation List (PAL) by deleting one (1.00 FTE) vacant Animal Services Office Assistant allocation and replacing it with one (1.00 FTE) Administrative Assistant allocation. This change is critical to improving operational efficiency and reducing reliance on the Department of Agriculture’s Office Manager.

By approving this request, the Division will gain the ability to manage essential functions in-house, including preparing agenda items, processing payroll, and handling claims. Additionally, the Administrative Assistant will assume key responsibilities such as serving as safety coordinator, assisting with budget preparation, and managing purchase orders and agreements.

The Joint Council Bargaining Unit has been notified and is in agreement with the requested action.
