a) AGREEMENT - Request approval and authorization for the Chief Administrator to sign the Agreement with the State of California, Department of Forestry and Fire Protection for the lease of County property at 20639 Walnut Street, Red Bluff, for a monthly sum of $2,750, effective 8/1/26 and shall terminate on 7/31/29 (Subject to receipt of required insurance documentation)
body
Financial Impact:
This Agreement will result in revenue of $33,000 annually for the General Fund from a currently vacant building, to be used toward deferred building maintenance. This revenue was part of the planned General Fund savings for the Board-directed restructuring of the department and is in addition to the $272,000+ in already-realized annual budget savings.
Background Information:
Cal Fire has requested use of the vacant former Public Guardian office in order to accommodate their staffing needs. Potential lease revenue of this building was one of the considerations presented in the overall cost savings to the County in recent moves to restructure the Department. After considerations of other County Department needs, this has been deemed to be the best option for the County. The rental rate was negotiated based on market rates in the area and is considered to be in the best interest of both entities. This Agreement will expand the current partnership and support the mission of Cal Fire within Tehama County.
