Financial Impact:
Temporary Construction Easements are estimated to not exceed $25,000 each. There is sufficient funding in the 26-27 Road Fund 0102-3011-53280 to complete the necessary purchases. The acquisition price for any individual temporary construction easement shall not exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) without prior approval of the Board of Supervisors.
Background Information:
A proclamation of local emergency was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on September 16, 2025, which included the storm damage from the previous winter storm deeming the Newville bridge at Kendrick Creek unsafe following a Cal-Trans inspection and need for closure of the bridge.
Public Works erected a Bailey Bridge structure to hover over the concerning abutment so as to allow the bridge to reopen to emergency services and local traffic for a temporary period that was undetermined at that time. In anticipation of the predicted heavy storms this winter, it is essential that Public Works begin mitigating the chance for more undermining of the structure. These temporary easements will allow for storage of equipment on site during this phase of construction.
