Financial Impact:
The annual base salary for a full-time Step D is $63,190.40, an $8,611.20 increase over that of a Step A. The Department has sufficient 2026/2027 fiscal year funding budgeted for appointment at Step D.
Background Information:
This employee’s experience using GIS mapping for gathering, documenting and reporting road inspection data for FEMA reimbursements during and after the Park Fire, their foundational engineering skills working in the Public Works bridge division including construction planning, and assisting with the design build of the Bailey Bridge at Kendrick Creek, supplemented by their civil engineering coursework, drone licensure, and a Class A license with all endorsements to supplement our transportation practices including permits and oversize loads, makes them the ideal candidate for this position. This candidate was considered the second highest-ranking candidate for this recruitment. Their training and experience exceed that of an entry level employee. The Department would like to promote this highly qualified and motivated employee.
